Paul Author Vanover, age 82, of Ewing, VA passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 in the Tri-State Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. He was born June 17, 1935 in Harlan, Ky. Mr. Vanover was retired from General Motors as a Machine Operator.

He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mary Jane Lee Vanover, son Randy Vanover, brothers Lee, Boyd and Carlos Edward Vanover, and sisters Viol Steel, Ovada Cox, Vida Bryant and Geneva Vanover.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Burchett Vanover of Ewing, VA, his son Mike Vanover of Michigan, stepchildren Richard Bailey, Shawna Fultz, and Amy Bailey, and one brother Lloyd (Clara) Vanover of Hulen, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Morrison presiding.

REBECCA “BECKY” JOANN HARRELL

Rebecca “Becky” Joann Harrell, age 45, of Ewing, Virginia, passed away September 15, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born December 15, 1971.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Warren and Lillian Harrell, and George and Cleo Yoakum, uncles James Warren “Bugsy” Harrell, and Don Yoakum, aunts Ruth Yoakum, and Elizabeth “Pie” Hensley.

She is survived  by the following members of her family, mother Joann Blondell, father Thomas Harrell, brother Chris Harrell, stepsister Tina Bright, aunt Debbie (Roger) Mayes, uncles Mack Yoakum, George (Linda) Yoakum Jr., and Billy Hensley, and nephew Cayden Harrell.

And a host of special cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

JANE LOUISE THOMAS JONES

Jane Louise Thomas Jones, age 83, of Ewing, Virginia, formerly of Staunton, Virginia, passed away September 12, 2017 at Tennova Physicians Regional.

She was born February 15, 1934 to the late Jim Syl and Vola Thomas in Ewing, Virginia; later residing in Staunton, Virginia where she lived for 47 years. She was a member of the Ewing Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 7 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by the following members of her family, loving husband Curtis Joe Jones of Ewing, Va., sons James Elbert Jones and his wife Jennifer of Natural Bridge, Va., and Jeffrey Curtis Jones of Ewing, Va., grandson Ethan Kyle Jones of Raleigh, N.C., 2 sisters, and 1 brother.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Ewing Church of the Brethren, 1357 Frog Level Road, Ewing, Va., with Rev. Frank Turner Jr. and Rev. Norman Clark presiding.

Music will be provided by Organist Betty Lynn Smith, Pianist Candace Jones Lowe, and Soloist Aaron P. Lowe.

Graveside services will follow in the Jones Cemetery, Ewing, Va., with Rev. Frank Turner Jr. and Rev. Ron Wine presiding.

Raymond Good, 68, of Middlesboro, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, September 11, 2017.

He was of the Holiness Faith.  He was born September 22, 1948 in Middlesboro, Kentucky the son of the late Mary and Willie Good.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Clayton Good and Willie Frank Good Jr., Sister: Christine Allen, Niece: Sharon Ramsey.

He is survived by his Wife: Hester Good, Sons: Randy (Georgiana) Good, Jason (Debra) Good, Daughter: Candi Jones, Grandsons: Britt Good, Nathan Good, Demarion Loza, Granddaughters:  Demetria Jones, Destinie Upton, Daycelee Jones, Madison Emery, Brothers: Condy (Mary) Good, Sisters: Naomi Barnett, Alice (Jerry)  Hensley, Sister-in-laws: Debbie and Kathy Good, And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rosetta Capps, 92, of Middlesboro, KY passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

She was born November 14, 1924 in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of the late Oscar Reed and Artie Thomas Reed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Capps, daughters Shirley Hensley and Diana Capps Shackelford, and grandsons Jeff and Steve Hensley.

She is survived by the following members of her family, daughter Donna Faye Sowders, sons David (Brenda) Capps, Gary Capps, and Ronald Capps, son-in-law Jack Hensley, grandchildren Becky, Mark (Linda), Tim (Missy) and Stan Hensley, Amber Capps and Ashley (Chris) Woody, Chris, Jason and Linc Shackelford, Tessa (George) Stiltner, Aaron Sowders, Travis Capps and Eddie Capps, Jeremy Capps and Hesper Capps, 25 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Virgie Smith, brothers Wilburn Smith, Johnny Smith, and Freddie Smith, sisters Omega Smith, Marie Smith, and Ophelia Smith.

He is survived by the following members of his family, sisters Selda (J.R.) Sowders, Hester (Raymond) Good, and Bobbie (Tim) Peace, brothers Charlie Smith, and Tommy (Phyllis) Smith, and special niece Crystal Blackburn. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

MYRANDA PAULETTE HUGHETT

Myranda Paulette Hughett, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Middlesboro A.R.H.

She was born January 28, 1980 to Patsy Allen Goins. She was a devoted mother to her four children Mackenzie, Camden, Pax and Qai whom she loved, and the father of her children Dain Morrison, whom she had a relationship with for 19 years.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather Matthew Allen, special uncle Dwain Hughett, and special aunt Ruth Allen Caldwell.

She is survived by the following members of her family, grandparents Mary Allen, and Bill and Paulette Hughett, brothers Jeffrey Goins and Larry Wayne Hughett JR., special aunts Jessica Venable, “Sissy” Melissa (Mike) Idol, Tammy (Jerry) Marcum, and Abbie Carroll, uncles Walter (Kim) Allen, and Billy Ray Hughett, cousin and close friend Veronica Marcum, whom she loved like a sister, cousins Jerry, Renee, Will, Jennifer, Brandon, Jamie, Amy, Amanda, Roger, Mikey, Dalton, Justin, Brittany, and Ashley, stepfather Jeff Goins, and special friend of 27 years Christy Nutter.

MR. WILLIAM KARAS WELCH

Mr. William Karas Welch age 82 of Speedwell, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, September 1, 2017.

He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

He was born July 18, 1935 the son of the late Karas Ross Welch and Margaret Lee Cantwell Welch.

He attended Cawood United Methodist Church. Mr. Welch was a US Army Veteran and a 50 plus year mason of the Powell Valley Lodge #488 where he was a past master during the construction and possession of the current lodge. He worked as a rail road conductor, a building crew foreman and a driver for S.A. Mars. He also was owner operator of Tiger Mart and Welch Trucking. Not only was he a successful businessman but he was also an avid outdoorsman and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his father Karas Ross Welch and mother Margaret Lee Cantwell Welch.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary Ida Welch, his daughter Elizabeth Welch Edwards (Scott) of Lafollette, TN, Sister Josephine (James) Dyke of Morristown, TN, Sister-in-law Luster (Willie) Shipley of Speedwell, TN, Granddaughter Hope Edwards of Temple, GA. Several nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends too numerous to count. Special thanks to Janice Kilgore, Kathy Welch and Donna Moyers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Green Hills Funeral Home.
