Ronnie Carl Simpson, age 74, of Harrogate, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 08, 2017.

He was born January 7, 1943 in Roda, Virginia, the son of the late Charles “Happy” Edward Simpson and Pauline Scott Simpson.

He was a graduate of Cumberland High School, a veteran of the United States Air Force; stationed in Bangkok Thailand during the Vietnam War, a proud coal miner at Consol and Eastover, and a 40 year member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife whom he loved, Gwendolyn Simpson, brothers David Wayne Simpson, and Paul Gilmer Simpson, sister Hazel Simpson Caperton, father- in-law Ben Caudill, mother-in-law Virginia “Jenny” Caudill, and brothers-in-law Larry Caudill, Bill Jack Dixon, Steve Napier, and Leon Brown.

This beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather is survived by the following members of his family:

His children: Jennifer and husband Brian Smith of Barbourville, KY; Heather and husband Scott Jackson of Harrogate, TN; and Jason and wife Kristie Simpson of Middlesboro, KY.

His brothers: Ray and wife Brenda Simpson of Tuscaloosa, AL; and Roger and wife Suzie Simpson of Columbia, TN.

His sisters: Retta Napier of Kingsport, TN; Beulah and husband Dave Curtis of New Tazewell, TN; and Ruthie and husband Jim Betley of Harrogate, TN.

His brother-in-law; Tim Caudill of Blackey, KY.

His sister- in-laws: Brenda Brown of Columbia, KY; Ute Caudill of Jeremiah, KY; and Nancy and husband Sam Oaks of Blackey, KY.

His nine grandchildren: Austin, Jared, Kaylee, Cole, Cooper, Courtney, Adrianna, Ian, and Caden.

His great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Paisley, and soon to be grandson, Oliver.

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William Boyd Bingham, Orban Amix, and Ken Flowers presiding.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Harrogate Cemetery, Harrogate, TN, with Mr. Garry Bingham officiating. Full Military Honors will be given.

Pallbearers will be his son, grandsons, and son-in-laws.

Honorary pallbearers will be his special friend and brother-in-law, Jim Betley, his special nephew Derek Curtis, the staff of Family Medical Clinic, and the staff of Amedysis Home Health Care and Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Green Hills Funeral Home.
