Charles Matthew Daniels, age 59 of Harrogate, Tennessee passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, Tennessee.

He was born March 10, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan.

He was valedictorian of Middlesboro High School class of 1976, National merit finalist and winner of $1,000.00 scholarship from the McGraw Foundation and the National Bank scholarship, received department of Mathematics award and the Bausch and Lomb Science Award. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Mensa and a Rhodes Scholar. He also enjoyed playing all types of sports.

After graduating from Middlesboro High School, Matt attended Washington University in St. Louis. He went on to enjoy a very successful career as an independent database consultant and as owner/operator of CommandTek Consulting, with clients including IBM, AT&T, American Express, Edward Jones and Cargill. He was most recently employed by Mohawk Industries.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Viola and Frazier Gulley and Charles and Astola Daniels, step-son Brandon and step-brother JB White.

He is survived by his loving Wife Rochelle Woody Daniels, Daughters Victoria and December of Harrogate, TN, his stepdaughter Kendra, Mother JoAnn Gulley Pace and Step-Father Bud Pace of Middlesboro, Father Charles Franklin Daniels and Step-Mother Betty Daniels of Speedwell, TN, Sister Karen Daniels Wilson and husband Tom Wilson of Gatlinburg, TN, Brother John Daniels and wife Sandy Mink Daniels of Knoxville, TN, Brother Mark Daniels of Nevada, Step-sister Judy Hurd of Harrogate, TN, Nephews Patrick and Matthew Daniels, Niece Allison Daniels, Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Bo and Colleen Woody of Middlesboro, KY, and Tracey and Cody Ayers of Middlesboro, KY, his Nieces and Nephews by marriage Logan, Lindsey, Olivia and Chance Woody, Baylee, Blaine, and Eli Woody, and Skyler and Kaylee Ayers, Grandmother-in-law Irene Wallace of Middlesboro, KY, His Cat Sophie, and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and Co-Workers.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Medley and Rev. Randy Phelps. Music will be provided by Alva Cunningham.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Patrick Daniels, Tom Wilson, Joe Woody, and Cody Ayers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the many friends that he has made in all of the places that he has traveled to and from in this world; and all of his former teachers with a special mention to Mrs. Billie Jo Laymon Booth. Matt touched so many lives with his smile, his laugh, his kind heart, his intelligent mind and his encouraging words. Coming from his wife she used to tease him and say “you’ve been everywhere Johnny Cash”; and Matt would laugh and agree. Matt loved beyond measure. He will be deeply missed but always remembered.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Green Hills Funeral Home.
